1. Interviewees' Background

We search for our French interviewees' online. They are all of the middle class who have a decent job in Hong Kong, such as pastry shop owner, university professor and manager. Since they have strong earning power and each has their own profession, they enjoy high social status in Hong Kong. Our research is likely to reveal the perks of this ethnic and linguisitc minority more than the challenges they face. Besides, our interviewees are all willing to come and reside in this foreign place, which implies they are open-minded to new cultures and lifestyles. So, it may be easier for them to adapt to the local life and interact with the local community as well.

Besides, only French language learners were invited to our interview, we have only collected the reasons why the French language is attractive. We may have ommitted possible stigmatization of the French language of other Hong Kong people that will aid us to analyze the challenges encountered by the French in Hong Kong.

2. Research Design

During our research, we questioned our French interviewees' cultural identity. However, a clear definition of the terms used like "Frenchness" and "Hong Kongness" was not given. So, each interviewee has their own definition, which may not be a fair comparison.
